Korrok looked but seemed confused, he didn't understand what it was trying to say. The gnolls were sentient and smart enough to speak and form tribes and worship and fight, but metaphor or cryptic statements or anything over thoughtful was a bit too much for Gnoll who hasn't taken the time to learn such things.

"...the bird," she said after a long pause, apparently in some amount of disbelief that her gesture wasn't clear enough. She continued, repeating her question. "How many goblins are in that area?"

He got the idea and immediately told people to grab the bird and drag it to her "I am so sorry my Great One! I didn't understand Great One!" He bowed once, twice, and thrice again.

Caeriadne caught herself losing her patience but stopped before her temper flared up...or worse. She calmed herself by taking some solace in the poor gnoll's great display of...devotion?

She took the bird up in her claws again, but this time she was more conservative as she bit off sizeable chunks instead of stuffing the entire thing into her mouth. Apparently, the edge had been taken off of her ravenous appetite.

"Korrok," she repeated again, speaking more slowly. "How many....goblins...are near the place where your village was. And what is left of your village?"

"We were attacked by a group of nearly a hundred goblins in the night, they overwhelmed our walls and beat us out of homes rather easily I am sad to say...They probably burnt down our temples and totems, but I would assume the wooden walls are still up, and most of our tents are still there."

"It is probably not worth taking back then," she thought aloud, "but we will see about bringing vengeance to these goblins one day." She took another bite of the Axe Beak, savoring the flavor for a moment. "Do you have maps?"

Korrok nodded and smiled a toothy hyena grin before taking a map out of his cleric robes and laying down in front of her, this was obviously either stolen or traded for, because no Gnoll made this. It was detailed and professional.

Sloping her neck in for a closer look, Caeriadne studied the map for a long time in total silence. Her eyes darted across it. It was as if she was memorizing it and searing her fate - no, the world's fate - onto it in her mind, right in front of their eyes.

She looked particularly for what the nearest settlements and points of interest were - anything that the map would show within twenty miles or so.

The map would tell her there was very little within twenty miles, there was a human settlement to the east of them about 25 miles out. It wasn't part of any kingdom, just a lonely village. Further north was a kingdom of dwarves and farther south was marked green, symbolizing it was controlled by Orks. This would surprise her, it was massive for an Orkish WAAAGH.

She continued studying it, looking further out now. "Tell me about this...'waagh,' Korrok." She said the word dripping with disgust, as if she could hardly stand to lower herself to speak an Orkish word.

There were other small human settlements scattered about, to get to any real larger cities you would have to get closer and into the main kingdoms, which were quite far away at this point. The largest settlement was 50 miles out and seemed to be a mixture of wild elves, humans, and a small tiefling community.

"Thats the largest Orkish waaaagh in the world. The Goreboz waaagh, controlled by the brutal Warboss Goreboz. The borders of his empire are in a constant state of war because orks groups are constantly either splitting off or joining the WAAAGH. We haven't gone anywhere near it, no Gnolls have for a century."

Caeriadne's inner tactician began taking over, and she ever so lightly traced the very tip of one of her claws over the map.

"Then we should leave it alone. We will go here," she lightly tapped the human settlement to the east. "This is closest to the water. We will be safer there." She finished mawing down the final gulp of bird, and rose to her feet. "If you want to follow me, I will allow it. Do as I say, and I will keep you safe."

He nodded and said "We will follow orders well and to the letter Great One. Though, Great One, humans normally do not accept Gnolls, in our experience. Do you wish to conquer this village?" The Gnolls actually looked slightly excited at that prospect.

"We will see," Caeriadne said slowly and deliberately. "I will have to look at this place first. We may not even go there, if it's not worth our time. We have much to accomplish, my friends." She offered what could be interpreted as a small smile, as the corners of her mouth spread further back her skull and little glints of her fangs showed through. Although it was probably more threatening than comforting, it was the best attempt at friendliness that she was able to muster right now.

As a group of hyena creatures, when they smiled it did the same thing, so they understood the gesture. They all nodded and cheered, they seemed emboldened and cheerful having a new leader and such a powerful one at that. She had successfully recruited this group of sad lost gnolls, it had ended up being a rather successful first couple of hours awake.

"Follow," she commanded simply as she took off at an easy gait, not unlike a trotting horse. She kept her speed steady, waiting at first to see just how fast these...newly acquired...gnolls could travel.

The gnolls would all immediately began to follow, it looked as if they could move faster than they were, and they were keeping up with her right now rather well.

Caeriadne picked up her pace, learning by trial and error just how fast the gnolls could comfortably keep up. She took off lightly into the air, gliding low and maintaining her speed to lead the gnolls without speeding ahead of them.

They would increase their speed until they were running as fast as they could without pushing past their comfortable limits. They were incredibly fast creatures, that should help immensely in combat scenarios. It may fill her with an odd sense of pride, seeing a 50 members of a warrior race following her obediently, ready to fight for her again.

Glancing over her shoulder as she glided, Caeriadne felt the familiar pang of leadership. It ran strong through her blood and sparked inspiration in her soul. The overwhelming weight of...whatever had happened to her before was still there, but it was at least temporarily shrouded by this new sense of purpose. This was a small part of what she was meant to do. This was the beginning of her second chance.

The group continued on until the setting sun began to cast hues of orange and red across the western sky. Caeriadne soared higher up to get a better view of the immediate landscape, but slowed so she wouldn't alarm her gnolls. She was searching for some place to set up camp for the night.

There was a rather sheltered little area near a sloping hill with a pond surrounded by willow trees, it looks perfect for a camping site and it looks unoccupied, she won't be this lucky again and if she keeps looking someone else may take an interest in this perfect little spot.

Caeriadne circled once around the camp and then flew back to the gnolls, landing lightly in front of them and trotting ahead to lead them back.

"We will camp up here," she said.

They nodded and immediately got into the clearing and began setting up a rudimentary camp for the night. The cleric said to his people and to his new dragoness overlord "This must have been divine providence that you found us, look at this camp site, it is perfect! We never would have even though to look this way."

Deciding not to further refute the gnolls' persistent worship of her right now, she simply nodded her head. "We will be safe here. You need to sleep...I will take a closer look at this settlement." She glanced around, watching the gnolls go about making the camp, and then took a long, deep drink from the pond before stepping away from the camp. "Wait for me here in the morning."

Korrok nodded and smiled a toothy grin "Yes Great One, we will be here awaiting your orders in the morning."

They grouped up and finished consuming the birds they had brought with them, and began to get comfortable and sleep around the little campfires they made with ease and efficiency that only comes with practice.
